How to calibrate a coating thickness gauge

The calibration method of a coating thickness gauge consists of the following steps:

1. Attach the standard diaphragm to the reference plane to ensure that the diaphragm is flat and free of air bubbles. The coating thickness gauge's probe is then gently placed on the diaphragm and the measured value is read. Measure and record data multiple times.

2. Remove the standard diaphragm and wipe the reference plane with a clean cloth to make sure there is no residue. Another standard diaphragm is then attached to the reference plane and the above measurement process is repeated. At least two different standard diaphragms are required for calibration.

3. Compare the measured data with the known thickness of the standard diaphragm to check the margin of error. If the error is within the allowable range (according to the accuracy requirements of the coating thickness gauge), the calibration is considered acceptable. If the error is outside the allowable range, it needs to be adjusted or repaired.
