 Structured vs. unstructured data

Structured data and unstructured data are two different types of data.

1. Structured data: Structured data is a database of data, which is stored in a relational database and can be logically expressed in a two-dimensional table structure. Typical structured data includes credit card numbers, dates, financial amounts, phone numbers, addresses, product names, and more. Each column has a specific meaning, making it easier to analyze structured data.

2. Unstructured data: Unstructured data is essentially everything other than structured data. It doesn't conform to any of the predefined models, so it's stored in a non-relational database and queried using NoSQL. It may be textual or non-textual, or it may be artificial or machine-generated. Simply put, unstructured data is data with variable fields.

Unstructured data is not that easy to organize or format. Collecting, processing, and analyzing unstructured data is also a major challenge. This creates some problems because unstructured data makes up the vast majority of the data available on the web, and it's growing every year. With more information available on the web, and much of it unstructured, finding ways to use it has become an important strategy for many businesses.
